Fuerteventura delivered exactly the conditions the fastest windsurfers wished for during the last days. With wind speeds up to 75 km/h the athletes could race three full rounds in the South of the island between the 29th of June and the 4th of July. The Dutchman Twan Verseput as well as world record holder Zara Davis (GBR) managed to defend their 2017 world titles. The two vice world champions are both from Germany. Andy Laufer, who started competing again after a long break, and Anne Schindler, who lives on the Canary Islands, secured second ranks. The podium was completed by Björn Dunkerbeck (starting for ESP) and Anja Kruse (GER).
